Types of consultation

Text Consultation

We have a system called Accu-Rx which is embedded into our clinical system. Clinicians are able to send texts to patients and photos and descriptions of problems can be attached. These are returned securely to the clinician or member of staff who sends the text and saved onto the patient record.

Face to Face appointments

More complex issues or problems that are not able to be assessed via a photograph or discussed in a telephone call will be invited for a face to face appointment after speaking to a clinician.

Red Centre

The red centre service is face-to-face consultations for patients with COVID-19 symptoms or other possible contagious illness (respiratory infection, abdominal pain), who are not able to manage their symptoms themselves with analgesia and over the counter remedies.

Patients are triaged to assess their symptoms and their need for a face-to-face consultation and then asked to come down to the Practice at a specific time, park by the railings in the car park where it says red centre parking and we will come out and collect them for the consultation. This reduces the risk of spreading infection to patients in the waiting room.

Mental Health Practitioner

We have a mental health practitioner, Caroline Briggs, who is with us on a Tuesday and a Thursday. She may contact patients from the triage list directly if she can see they have a problem relating to their mental health or else patients are referred to her by our clinicians following triage assessment.

Physio First

We have a first contact Physiotherapist, Grace. She will contact patients directly from our triage list and see patients referred following triage assessment by one of our clinicians. She sees patients who have not yet had Physiotherapy and are presenting with a new onset muscular problem.

Pharmacist appointments

Patients may be contacted directly by our Pharmacists Patrick  or Anne to do medication reviews, or else can request to speak to them directly about problems with their medication.

Online consultation

Online consultation systems allow patients to contact their GP surgery without having to wait on the phone or spend time traveling to the practice.

Online consultations enable patients to ask questions, report symptoms and upload photos. The practice then looks at the request and responds within 48hrs connecting the patient to the right person, service or support.

Video consultations enable patients to have an appointment via a completely secure video environment from the comfort of your own home. Patients do not need to attend the practice and can easily connect to this service.
